Friendly’s Lands in Terminal A at General Lawrence Logan International Airport

The iconic dining and ice cream brand debuts a new quick-service concept

WILBRAHAM, MA (April 8, 2014)Friendly’s Ice Cream, LLC, the operator of Friendly’s restaurants and a manufacturer of ice cream products distributed in over 8,000 retail outlets, is pleased to announce the opening of an entirely new restaurant located across from Gate 19 in Terminal A at Boston’s General Lawrence Logan International Airport. Open for business beginning today, the newest Friendly’s is managed by Boston Food Concepts (BFC), who operates over 50 full-service and quick service restaurants in transit locations across the United States, including Penn Station in New York City and seven airports across the country.  Terminal A’s dining and retail collection, comprised of 16 shops and 16 restaurants, is managed by global developer Westfield.

“We are proud to partner with such a widely-recognized and long-loved brand such as Friendly’s,” said Altaf Isani, President of BFC.  “BFC is excited about the opportunity to supply thousands of hungry travelers and families, alike, with classic items such as Friendly’s Big Beef® Burgers, fresh salads, wraps and SuperMelt® Sandwiches, and of course, a variety of premium ice cream flavors, that are served in a food court-style setting. Many travelers at Logan International Airport are already fans of Friendly’s, and we’re hoping that visitors to the region will also be excited to experience Friendly’s iconic food and ice cream for themselves.”

The new location features made-to-order dishes prepared from the same high quality ingredients found at full-service Friendly’s restaurants. For breakfast, guests may choose options such as Yogurt Parfaits topped with granola; a Toasted Bagel with or without cream cheese; an English Muffin; Fresh Fruit Bowls and Traditional Steel Cut Oatmeal, along with a trio of Breakfast SuperMelt® Sandwichesboasting two farm-fresh eggs topped with combinations of bacon, ham and cheese.

“We’re excited to bring the signature dishes and ice cream flavors that generations of people on the East Coast have come to know and love, to Logan International Airport,” said Friendly’s CEO and President John Maguire. “We are always looking for new ways to introduce guests to our delicious food and ice cream, and our Terminal A location is the perfect opportunity.”

For lunch and dinner, guests will enjoy a variety of Garden Fresh Salads, including Friendly’s Crispy Chicken Salad, tender country-breaded chicken breast pieces tossed with Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses, fresh tomatoes, sliced egg, and fresh mixed greens, along withApple Harvest Chicken Salad, featuring crisp apples, toasted walnuts and crumbled bleu cheese served on a bed of mixed greens. Specialty Sandwiches such as Friendly’s Deluxe Chicken Sandwich, tender breaded chicken breast on a buttery Brioche roll with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise; Fishamajig® Sandwich, golden panko-breaded haddock topped with American cheese and tartar sauce served on sourdough bread; and classic Grilled Cheese, will be served.

Rounding out the menu are a selection of SuperMelt® Sandwiches, including the Honey BBQ Chicken SuperMelt®, country-breaded all-white meat chicken tenders smothered in sweet honey BBQ sauce, melted Cheddar cheese, applewood-smoked bacon and ranch dressing; Turkey Club SuperMelt®, warm turkey breast layered with applewood-smoked bacon, melted American cheese and tomato, topped with Thousand Island dressing and served on freshly grilled sourdough bread; Friendly’s Big Beef® burgers, consisting of the All American Cheeseburger, topped with fresh tomato, crisp lettuce, red onion and a dash of mayo and served on a buttery Brioche roll; Bacon Cheeseburger, boasting melted American cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, fresh lettuce, tomato and mayo between a Brioche roll; and aPatty Melt, piled with sautéed onions and melted Swiss cheese and served on grilled honey-dill rye bread.

Additional options will include Friendly’s Frank and Side, a tried and true classic hot dog served with mustard, relish and red onions, and Home-style Clam Chowder. Beverages such as coffee, water, fruit juices, sodas, milk and hot and ice teas are also available.
