Friendly’s Shares the Scoop on Free Ice Cream Day to be Held June 5, 2010

WILBRAHAM, Mass.; May 27, 2010 – Friendly’s, a family dining chain of more than 500 restaurants, will kick off summer on Saturday, June 5, 2010 with Free Ice Cream Day. From noon to 5:00 p.m., customers can receive a one-scoop dish or cone of their flavor of choice at any participating Friendly’s restaurant.

With 26 flavors to choose from including original Nuts Over Caramel®, refreshing Watermelon Sherbet and classic Chocolate, Friendly’s offers a flavor for every taste. This is the third annual Free Ice Cream Day at Friendly’s. Last year the company gave away more than 500,000 free cones.

“We’d love to give away a record 750,000 scoops to mark our 75th anniversary this year,” said Friendly’s CEO Ned R. Lidvall. “I know we can count on our customers to round up their friends and come down for their free scoop. As we know, nothing brings people together like ice cream.”
